On Saturday 22nd Marlene Von Gossler was welcomed by Perth Rotary at Perth airport, our first Rotary Youth Exchange student since covid.
President Linken and his daughter Ella, Youth Director Manu and his wife Harsha, Fellowship Chair Nan, Jill and Norm from the district RYE committee and Host Mums Jill, Nan and Kathryn welcomed our first Rotary Youth Exchange student since 2020. Marlene arrived at Perth Airport safe and sound, ready for a year of adventure. Congratulations and gratitude to the D9423 Rotary Western Australia RYE Committee, who worked so hard to get this program up and running again.
We are looking forward to a fabulous year ahead with Marlene.
Marlene quickly settled into the home of her first host parents, Jill and Peter Dawson.
On Sunday evening, Jill hosted dinner at her home for another welcome to Marlene, and to farewell our Perth Rotary outbound student, Niamh Bingham. Niamh's entire family joined them, along with Marlene's host families and fellow Rotarians.
Niamh has picked three countries for her RYE year, first choice being Denmark. She will find out her destination at the RYE camp this coming weekend.
