Aussie Fighter Pilots Gate Crash Winston Churchill’s Party. One of them was a Perth Rotarian. Russell Leith OAM.
Last 6th June was the 79th anniversary of D Day, the Allied Invasion of Normandy. This momentous event generally focuses on the exploits of the Americans and British, however Australians were also there. One small squadron of Spitfire Fighter Pilots. David Leith, Russell’s son, will tell of their breathtaking memorable experiences. Some funny, some sad; including being shot down and captured by the Germans, his escape and rescue by the French Resistance.
