ROTARY OF PERTH PRESIDENT UPDATE - 15TH MAY 2018
As we head towards the end of the Rotary Year, we are as busy as ever!
Last Saturday’s Passages Race Day proved again to be a great day of fun and celebration. In all the David Reed, Ashley Ladner, and the team at Vinnies raised nearly $70,000 to support the work impacting homeless youth in our city. A great round of applause for all the hard work! Thanks to our club Rotarians for purchasing tables and bringing along friends and family to celebrate the day.

A particular big thanks to the following members who purchased tickets to the Race Day on behalf of our Rotaract Club members: Wes Sim, Ken Michael, David Reed, Vangelis Katsaitis, and Kelly Gibson. Our Rotaractors sent their thanks via FaceBook:

This weekend we have our Path of Hope Ball happening once again and this will bea celebration like no other event you could attend! We are on the last few tables to be sold…our target is to sell out all 500 seats! If you haven’t already booked your ticket, please do so NOW so that you can play a part in helping the club “break the cycle of domestic violence”. The net proceeds of the event go towards to the Salvation Army here in WA. Funds from the last two years have gone towards the funding of an outreach worker for the refuge.

Have you heard about our “vocational” trip to Canberra?
Senator Dean Smith, Liberal Senator for WA and member of the Rotary Club of Perth, has extended a personal invitation to our club members to visit him in Parliament House to gain an exclusive “inside view” from our nation’s capital and to gain better insight into how the “gears of government” work.
We are aiming to take between 10-12 members. Please note this is an opportunity to raise awareness of the work the Rotary Club of Perth members are doing and key issues relevant to the club, community and not-for-profit sector. By consolidating our wish list, we aim to maximise the opportunities. We will work to organise direct meetings with the parliamentarians in small groups of 3-4. The EOI closeout date is Wednesday, 16 May 2018. If you haven’t forwarded your expression of interest to attend, please send an email or contact me ASAP! We are looking to make this a special event! More information to follow for those who have already sent me your EOI.

As we move into the final month of my year as president, it is looking as busy as ever but has been a wonderful year of serving with you. Please join me at our President’s Changeover Dinner on 29 June 18, followed by the District Changeover Dinner on 30 June 2018.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours in Rotary,
Stephen Inouye - President - Rotary of Perth 2017/2018
