Vocational Service Committee 2011- 2012
- Developing Member Services within the Rotary Club of Perth to honour the original goals set by Paul Harris to support and sustain the business needs of fellow Rotarians through fellowship networking
- Identify and advance appropriate business information visits to inform and educate members about business and commercial ventures from which members can appreciate and learn what their peers outside of Rotary are contributing to the development of technological and operational advances in their Perth businesses
- Continue our association with The Australian Trades College scholarships programme where the Club sponsors 4 preselected and then interviewed students for 50% of their annual fees.
Vocational Trips
Australian Marine Complex - Henderson
Sixteen members and their guests were treated to a most informative and enjoyable morning at Australian Marine Complex (AMC) Henderson on Thursday 8 July 2010. They were received by Jonathan Smith, Business Unit Manager - Marine & Defence, who, together with Paul Booth, Floating Dock Manager, escorted them around the facility, including the impressive floating dock capable of dry docking vessels up to 12,000 tonnes.
Australian Trades College Sponsorships
The Australian Trades College Western Australia, ATC (WA) formerly the Australian Technical College – Perth South, is a senior secondary college and Registered Training Organisation that focuses on delivering trade training to young Western Australians. There’s also a subsidiary company, ATC Group Training, which employs apprentices.
ATC (WA) provides academic and trade training under one roof, giving young people the opportunity to complete their secondary studies (year 11 and 12) and commence their trade training at the same time!
The Rotary Club of Perth has an on-going association with ATC (WA) through the Vocational Service Committee. Once again Director, Pat Curbishley, and this year assisted by Harry Morgan, has selected three students to receive RCP Awards, amounting to half of the students’ fees. These Awards were presented at an Awards’ Ceremony on Wednesday 24 August at ATC (WA) Armadale Campus to: Mathew Crags, Cale Bafile and Jessica Quick.
