Vocational Service
Vocational visits project
The Vocational visits project, arranges and conducts visits for members of the Perth Rotary Club and their guests to business and other sites that are of general interest but not normally accessible to members. Typically, a Club member would have some connection to the activity visited and assist by hosting the event.
- When: Four or five visits are arranged throughout the year on an irregular schedule subject to the availability of access to sites and host arrangements.
- Who the project will help: Provides information and network opportunities to members and their guests.
- Costs: Hosts provide access and often sponsor light refreshments. Members fund any travel and entrance charges.
Sir Wallace Kyle Oration
Public oration by an invited eminent speaker addressing the general theme of "Service above self", conducted at the University of Western Australia and arranged jointly with the university to recognise the contribution to the community made by the late Sir Wallace Kyle as a member of Rotary. A dinner for Club members and their guest is conducted at the university either before or after the oration, and a reception is arranged for the orator with senior persons of the university and office holders of the Club.
- When: Arranged every 12 to 18 months for an early evening during the University term.
- Who the project will help: Matters of community interest are made available to members of the public and to the university population and members of the Club in particular. Recognition is shown to the family of the late Sir Wallace Kyle.
- Costs, funding & contributions: Incidental expenses funded from a small trust account held jointly with the University. The venues for oration and for reception are provided by the university, while dinner is funded by the members attending.
