Helen Keane - Cambodia Water Sanitation 

This is what Rotary is about!
Hear the results of this RCP funded project in Cambodia from RCP Member Helen Keane.

The support included;

1. 42 families received water jug 2000L (One for each family)

2. 49 latrine (One latrine for each family) was completely built and correctly used
3. 40 water purifications are provided to 40 poor family (One for each family)
4. 17 Schools received waste container from project (3 waste containers for each school)
5. School awareness on water and sanitation has been conducting in 17 selected schools

The Australian Director of Sea Shepherd will be talking on how and why the organisation was founded, how we operate, our campaigns, what its like being in Antarctica onboard the Steve Irwin up against armed Japanese coast guard in Australian waters, why the oceans are so important and whats on the horizen for Sea Shepherd. Dr Linley Lutton - 
Rethinking the Perth Foreshore Development

Linley is  Chair of the Australian Institute of Urban Studies and is a past president of the Council On The Ageing. He has been a director of several national and international architectural and planning companies and spent seven years as the director of a Japanese property development company. Linley also sits on two local government design advisory committees and is regularly invited by the media to comment on recent urban design or planning developments. 

He is currently the convenor of the City Gatekeepers, a group formed to try and convince the state government to rethink the current waterfront development.

ALCCO WAS THE EXAMPLE OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NORTH WHICH TODAY BECOMES HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT AS AUSTRALIAN EXPERTS INDICATE THAT THREE DAMS IN THE KIMBERLEY WOULD CREATE A RURAL INCOME FROM THE AREA WHICH WOULD DOUBLE TODAY’S WESTERN AUSTRALIAN TOTAL RURAL GROSS INCOME.

WA's organ & tissue donation agency

The national awareness week "DonateLife Week" is coming up on 19-26 February 2012, find out why it is so important and understand the myths and misconceptions.

  • There are almost 700,000 Western Australians registered to be organ and tissue donors which cover about 40% of the population aged over 16 years.  
  • One organ and tissue donor can save up to 10 lives and improve the lives of many more.
  • In 2010 in WA there were 22 people who donated their organs (heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and pancreas) and gave new life to 69 people who were on the organ transplant wait list. 
  • 58 people who donated their tissues (bones, heart valves, and corneas).

Jarrad Brown - Stock Market Outlook 2012

Jarrad Brown is an Investment Adviser at Patersons Securities Ltd having graduated from Curtin University with First Class Honours in Finance.
Jarrad has a particular passion for community involvement as Director of Fundraising for the Rotary Club of Mt Lawley and his efforts saw him awarded the WA Youth Citizen of the Year Award. Jarrad is currently a Board Member of the John Curtin Leadership Academy and involved in the annual fundraising event, Convicts for a Cause.

Virginia Christie is the Senior Representative of the Western Australian Office of the Reserve Bank of Australia. Rob Bransby - MD - HBF Health

Rob Bransby is currently Managing Director of HBF Health Limited. Rob joined HBF in August 2005 as Group General Manager. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer in January 2007 and Managing Director in January 2008. He is also Director of HBF Financial Services Pty Ltd and HealthGuard Health Benefits Pty Ltd.

Barry Nunn  

‘A GUIDE TO THE ORDER OF AUSTRALIA’

 Barry Nunn is a Chemical Engineer with over 35 years experience in the oil and chemical industries.  He retired from the Board of Shell Australia in 1990 in order to pursue his interest in management consultancy work, initially with KPMG. A member of the Defence Reserves for over 40 years, he retired as Assistant Chief of Defence Forces (Reserves) with the rank of Major General.

 He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1989 and was a recipient of the Centenary Medal in 2001.

 Greg Mawkes MBE - SASR Foundation

Major Greg Mawkes MBE retired from the Australian Regular Army in 1987 having served for 19 years with the SAS Regiment and 3 years within the 1st Commando Regiment. Greg transferred to the Army Reserve and continues to serve as the Unit History Officer with the SAS Regiment. and has been Chairman of the SAS Historical Foundation since 2001.

Provenance identification of selected types of food and drink is becoming increasingly important as countries seek to add value to their own produce and create a unique market niche for exported produce. However, the identification of high quality produce brings with it the potential for significant fraud as unscrupulous middle men (and producers) falsify country of origin labels to ensure that they gain the highest profit from what may be sub-standard materials.

Holly Ransom - Level Up Leadership

"How do we use trade policy to encourage environmentally sustainable economic policy?" In April 2011, Holly Ransom travelled to Switzerland from the 'Oikos Model World Trade Organisation Summit' where she and 39 other young leaders from around the world debated and negotiated trade policy before presenting a series of recommendations to the World Trade Organisation's Chief Secretariat.
