A Club’s Power lies in its Members
 

The world is changing too, though. Technology brings a new reality and this new reality requires new skills and knowledge, all leading to a new lifestyle which brings a new culture. This culture continuously evolves and we are proud that Perth Rotary grows and develops successfully through the years, keeping the title of the leading Club in our state and that of one of the leading Clubs in Australia.

 

Last Friday’s Annual General Meeting was organised and conducted under that prism of the Club’s leading role and of the opportunities that will lead to further growth and more service to the community.

 

An example of how all the above reflect to the community was given by our Members Rebecca Tolstoy AM and Past President Steven Inouye.

 

Rebecca under the guidance and leadership of Past President John Garland AM, founded and established the Path of Hope, a charity of global influence and attraction in support for the victims of domestic violence. Last Friday Rebecca unfolded the history and the most recent achievements of Path of Hope with the latest one being the presentation of a cheque for $$93,585.13 to the Salvation Army.  

Past President Stephen Inouye presented an update in view of this Year’s Vienna Pops, a very important cultural highlight for Western Australia which also delivers relief through the funds raised for the causes our Club serves. This year’s Vienna Pops concert is expected to be the biggest and brightest ever and more details about it can be found in the Bulletin.

Another example of the role of our Club in the community was given last Friday by our Youth Director Kelly Gibson who presented the importance of the Rotary Youth Exchange programme and later on Laura – our inbound exchange student from Brazil – presented Emma Cork’s and Ray Simpson’s families with a kind gesture of appreciation for their hospitality.

Kelly emphasised the importance of having host families for the smooth flow of the Rotary Youth Exchange Programme and later Past President Larry Hirsch highlighted Laura’s exceptional profile and character.

Looking ahead now, we all appreciate that in the future of every organisation of the size and the history of Rotary, challenges await. Changes are many and the world and the economy evolve fast. Perth Rotary has proven that it can thrive in this new environment by welcoming new and younger members, fresh and progressive ideas and innovative methods and techniques that will provide more value to the Club’s future.

Alan will present the history of Linneys and the impact of his success to Tourism and Jewelry in our state.
