Perth Rotary Members volunteer to help raise funds for further research into Childhood Brain Cancer at the annual Pirate Ship Foundation Backyard Cricket Match held at the Bailey Brewing Co, Henley Brook on Saturday 2 November 2024.
The backyard at Bailey Brewing Co. was transformed in readiness for the Ultimate Backyard Cricket Match and it looked sensational!
President Manu and Past District Governor Graham marshalled the troops to once again volunteer at this vital fundraiser for research into childhood brain cancer.
The Pirate Ship Foundation do an amazing job each year sourcing sponsorship from various corporates and harnessing the skills, time and energy of cricketing greats to come together and have a bit of fun whilst raising the vital funds necessary to enable the research to continue.
It was a perfect day for backyard cricket and the scene was set - Former Governor of Western Australia, Hon Kim Beazley AC opened the match and was the field umpire. Other entertaining talent came in the form of cricketing greats Michael Hussey, Shaun Marsh and Michael Veletta, comedy royalty in Ernie Dingo and Peter Rowsthorn, champion footballers Troy Cook, Chris Masten and Anthony Jones, ABC media personalities Nadia Mitsopoulos and Mark Gibson, as well as TV personalities Locky Gilbert and Harry Hills.
The Pirate Ship Foundation offered a huge thank you to all of their fantastic sponsors and partners for their support of this amazing event.
