Dear Rotarians and Friends,

We are on the cusp of National Volunteer Week 2026 (18–24 May). This year’s theme, 'Your Year to Volunteer' feels particularly pertinent as we prepare to celebrate a century of Perth Rotary serving Western Australia. My sincere thanks go to all Rotarians, past and present, who have stepped up to the plate—generously giving of their time, talent, and treasure to ensure we continue to change lives for the better.

The importance of our mission was underscored this week by the detection of poliovirus in Perth’s wastewater. While the risk to the public remains minimal thanks to our high vaccination rates, it is a sobering reminder that Rotary’s work is both vital and far from finished. We must never undervalue the impact we have; our vigilance is the key to a polio-free world.

Please find a link below to the recent opinion piece in The West Australian by Professor Fiona Stanley regarding these findings.

    RYE Student Elliot Notelaers.

Over the weekend, we welcomed Elliot back from his North West Safari. He has returned with many tales of adventure from the Pilbara and Gascoyne, and we look forward to hearing about his travels.

Elliot will be presenting an overview of his exchange year during our lunch meeting on Friday, 5 June 2026—our final regular meeting before the Legacy Luncheon. As he prepares to fly home to Belgium in early July, please mark this date as a 'must-attend' so we can formally farewell him and celebrate his journey.

Our sincere thanks go to his host families, particularly the Wackett and Gupta families, and to Ian Belton for his dedicated mentorship throughout the year. If you would like to experience the joy of hosting—even for a short weekend or school holiday break—please contact our Youth Director, Kathryn Wackett (youth@rotaryperth.org.au), to discuss the requirements and opportunities

Rotary Elizabeth Quay | Are Coming on Board with us.....

Elizabeth Quay Rotary Club are joining Perth Rotary from 1 July 2026 as a Satellite Club.  To this end, we will be advertising EQ events and opportunities and encourage members from both clubs to get to know each other.

Last week, EQ officially welcomed Jyoti as a new member of the Club. While we don’t have many formal traditions, one we truly value is the Rotary induction — a special moment that marks the beginning of someone’s journey with our club.

Jyoti Dahiya brings with her a wealth of experience, having previously served as a Rotaract Club President, and currently works in marketing for a software development business. We’re excited to have her energy, leadership and fresh perspective as part of our community.

    Welcome aboard, Jyoti!!!

Board Meeting | Tuesday 2 June 2026.  agenda items to our Club Secretary - secretary@rotaryperth.org.au

Our focus is clear: defining the trajectory of Perth Rotary beyond our first 100 years.

As we look toward Perth Rotary’s next century, our priority is the disciplined execution of our Strategic Plan. To maintain this momentum, we begin each meeting by reviewing the Perth Rotary Board Strategic Dashboard. This dashboard serves as our roadmap, outlining our specific targets and indicators for success. We are collectively refining our proficiency with this new framework, and the results of this transition are already becoming evident in our strategic outcomes
