Club media manager, Barry Thornton, was far from ecstatic when he heard all elective surgery in WA hospitals would be put on hold until the Pandemic was over.
It's almost a year to the day since Barry was crushed by a motor  bike as he crossed the Promenade des Anglais in Nice while on holidays in France.

With multiple fractures to his legs and numerous other injuries,  Barry spent the next six weeks in a coma lying in the ICU of a Nice hospital, partner Lisa and son Antony by his side.

Several times doctors told them the end was nigh but as Antony reminded the doctors,  Barry wasn't knick-named the Ox during his cricketing days for nothing!!

Eventually, Barry was flown home and spent 7 months in the rehab unit at Fiona Stanley Hospital before being discharged just before Xmas.
Confined to a wheelchair, Barry made steady progress and a few weeks ago was told by his orthopaedic surgeon that some minor surgery and a hip replacement could have him back on his feet  fairly soon.

An April date was set for the operations until Barry received a letter from the hospital advising the surgery would be postponed for at least three months because of the Pandemic.

Don't expect an Easter Egg from Barry this year !!
