Why a Masterclass?
PROST! Exercise 4 Prostate Cancer Inc (PROST!) is a community-based and evidence-based exercise program for men diagnosed with prostate cancer before and after treatment. PROST!’s focus is on “Muscle, Mateship and Mood”.
These words reflect our goals to support your physical health and recovery as well as your mental health and well-being. We do this through our group exercise program (rather than exercising as individuals) and by socialising afterwards at our men’s coffee clubs.
This Masterclass workshop will provide a more focussed opportunity to support our mental health and well-being.
We understand that discussing these topics can feel uncomfortable especially in the context of masculinity and health. However, prioritizing your well-being is a vital part of your overall recovery and quality of life.
The Masterclass will be conducted by qualified and experienced professionals in a safe and respectful space. It will aim to break down barriers, foster understanding, and provide practical tools to help you navigate the stressful and emotional impacts of your diagnosis with strength and dignity.
Remember, your participation is a sign of courage, not weakness: Your mental health matters just as much as your physical health, and you're not alone on this journey.
Masterclass Summary
In this 3-hour Masterclass for men living with or beyond prostate cancer, we will harness the latest advances from psychology to help you maximise your wellbeing and emotional health into the future. You will learn techniques to reflect on what matters to you in different areas of life (e.g., in your free time, work, relationships, and personal development), how to successfully head in those meaningful directions, and how to optimally manage the stress and difficult thoughts or emotions that can come up along the way.
At different times in life, we might be going really well or we might be struggling (e.g., feeling stressed, burnt out, down, lonely, or worried about a prostate cancer diagnosis, treatment choice, or an associated side effect).
This Masterclass is designed to be helpful to people no matter what stage of the prostate cancer journey they are in, equipping you with skills to maximise and maintain your wellbeing and to cope effectively during stressful times.
