No matter which line you ride, come October 24 Perth Rotarian's invite you to join in the conversation to End Polio.

When Rotary launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative more than three decades ago, polio paralyzed 1,000 children each day. Since 1988 cases of polio have dropped from 350,000 in 125 countries to 33 cases of wild polio virus in just 2: Afghanistan and Pakistan.

With polio nearly eradicated Rotary is working hard to ensure every child receives polio vaccine. This effort requires funding as much as political commitment. Rotary International pledges US$50 million annually to the End Polio campaign, an amount that is matched 2-1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, bringing the total to $150 million funds raised each year.

This year Perth commuters have the chance to show their support too! To join in the campaign click on Register to volunteer or make a donation. And please share this event with your friends and colleagues to keep the conversation alive!

As long as a single child remains infected, children in all countries are at risk of contracting polio. Failure to eradicate polio from these last remaining strongholds could result in as many as 200 000 new cases every year, within 10 years, all over the world.

Since 1985 Rotary International has contributed more than $1.9 billion to the End Polio campaign. With the end in sight, Perth Rotarian's are determined to keep this conversation alive!
